Children and Youth Programs

Growing up in a stable family environment provides children with a sense of security, and the knowledge that they can overcome the challenges presented by everyday life.  Among the best ways of ensuring that each child is given a good start in life is by providing professional guidance, counseling resources, and positive, character-building recreational activities to support those who may be most at risk.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention provides a school-based alcohol and substance abuse prevention program to a variety of elementary schools.

The activities include classroom presentations, training teachers and other professionals, skill development workshops, health promotions and community awareness events.  The Prevention Educators use an evidenced based program, Too Good For Drugs and receive ongoing specialized training in the area of education and prevention to ensure that the most up to date information is incorporated into the program.

Alternatives for Youth Aftercare

Alternatives for Youth Aftercare (AFY) is a primary prevention program that brings counselors into the home. The program offers a number of support services, to youths at risk of entering the juvenile justice system, and to families struggling with delinquency issues.

Children And Parents Together (CAPT) Program

Children And Parents Together (CAPT) Program treats and counsels parents with mental illness. Regular counseling sessions help these adults maintain their mental health by enhancing functionality in their personal, family and community lives. Improved parenting skills promote infant/toddler stimulation, enable their children to participate in interactive, age-appropriate activity, and increase every parent’s involvement in preschool education, socialization and skills development.

Family Advocacy for East End Youth

Family Advocacy for East End Youth provides youths and their families with the needed support and information for sustaining a healthy balance within the family structure, and positive reinforcement they can use throughout their lives.  Family Place provides parenting education and case management to parents of young children.

Operation Success

Operation Success provides education and support for elementary school children who are struggling academically, and may be at risk of falling behind their classmates. Special attention is paid to improving socialization problems, as well as enhancing study habits and work comprehension.

RECESS Therapeutic Recreation

RECESS provides therapeutic recreation to children ages 7-14 with serious emotional problems. Through group intervention, educational technique and skill building, this program is geared to helping children improve their day-to-day functionality. Areas of focus include age-appropriate impulse control, improving socialization skills, enhancing motor coordination and treating frustration issues.
