The United Way’s call center is now open from 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week. Just dial 2-1-1 (or 1-888-774-7633) or visit www.211longisland.org.

-- the 2-1-1 call center is registering households that need help with debris clean up and muck outs. 2-1-1 will create a “work order”, then faith-based organizations will “pull” the work order and schedule a team of volunteers to contact the homeowner. AND,

for all Suffolk County residents, the 2-1-1 call center will be scheduling damage assessments for the FEMA STEP (Sheltering Temporary Essential Power) program.
