Community Advocacy Information & Referral (C.A.I.R.)

Program Purpose:
The purpose of C.A.I.R. Services is to help individuals and families in times of need by providing information, referrals and linkages to other community agencies, and tangible resources.
Program Description:
C.A.I.R. provides free walk-in or phone-in help for individuals and families experiencing a wide variety of needs, such as temporary emergencies involving insufficient food, utility shutoffs, potential loss of housing or other essential resources. Professionally trained staff and volunteers assess what is needed to link people with the most helpful assistance available in a confidential manner. This program works to reduce isolation and stress, and services are designed to help people help themselves. C.A.I.R. staff offers community advocacy, supportive counseling and linkage to other Family Service League programs, as well as government and community agencies.
Persons Served:
C.A.I.R. Services assists residents of Suffolk County but primarily
those residing in the Townships of Huntington, Islip, Babylon, and Smithtown.
Fees:
All services are offered free of charge.

9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday
