Debt Counseling

Program Purpose:
To assist individuals and families who are experiencing difficulty with
financial indebtedness.
Program Description:
Trained debt counselors work with you to:
- review your budget to help determine where cuts may be made
- ascertain what it costs for basic necessities
- determine if there is any disposable income at the end of the month
- help to negotiate with creditors, if funds are available
- develop a plan to help you deal with your financial future
Counselors can answer uncomplicated questions over the telephone. If you
wish to become part of the program, please call and a Debt Counselor will
send you the necessary paperwork.

- a family in which one member has lost a job?
- a family where there has been a serious illness which has led to loss of income?
- a family where there has been a decrease in income, resulting in overuse of credit?
- an individual who has found that your credit card use has gotten out of control?
Persons Served:
The program serves any Suffolk County resident with problems of
indebtedness.

None
Program Hours:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Day and Evening consultations with counselors can be scheduled at a
mutually convenient time.
