Children and Parents Together (CAPT)

Program Purpose:
The purpose of the CAPT program is to help mentally ill parents:
- Maintain their mental health.
- Function well in their personal, family and community lives.
- Become better parents.
- Interact and socialize with other parents.
- Provide infant/toddler stimulation and age-appropriate activities for their children.
- Be active in their child’s preschool education, socialization and skills development.
Program Description:
Parents who have a mental health problem have special challenges. The CAPT Center offers groups for parents that provide the opportunity to learn more about parenting and to discuss other issues and concerns. Services Include Groups for:
- Parents
- Non-Custodial Parents
- Preschool Children
- Infants/Toddlers
Persons Served:
The CAPT Center serves families who:
- Live in Suffolk County.
- Are in treatment with a mental health professional or are assisted by a case manager.
- Have a child five years of age or younger.
- Are pregnant.
- Are non-custodial parents of older children.
Fees:
No fees are charged for participants.
Program Hours:
Monday - Friday (school calendar), 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
