Program Purpose:
Parent-To-Parent provides support, information, referral, and advocacy to families raising children with serious emotional and behavioral challenges. This program seeks to bridge the gap between families in need, and community programs. Parent-To-Parent is administered by the Suffolk County Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services.
Program Description:
The program supports and encourages families to identify their strengths and needs to reach their goals. We share:
• knowledge of the various systems relating to the families
• information on local, state ,and federal levels
• parenting skills and techniques
• ways to better communicate and collaborate
• ideas, concerns, solutions
PERSONS SERVED:
The program serves parents living in Suffolk County who have children ages 5 to 18 years, who have social, emotional, or psychiatric problems. The program is also available to all parents utilizing the services of the Children’s Single Point of Access in Suffolk County.
FEES:
The program charges no fees to participants.
PROGRAM HOURS:
Hours are flexible to the family’s needs and the availability of the consultant’s schedules and support groups.
