Ombudservice (Long-Term Care) Program

Program Purpose:
To protect the rights and improve the quality of life for Long-Term-Care residents
in Nursing and Adult Homes, and Assisted Living Facilities. This is
done through case advocacy, legislative change, and constructive reform of
long-term-care.
Program Description:
Trained volunteers, known as "Ombudspersons" visit Nursing and Adult
Homes and Assisted-Living Facilities, receive and investigate residents'
complaints or problems, and work with residential facility staff and others to
identify solutions. The program also fosters meaningful contact between the
residents and the wider Suffolk County community.
Persons Served:
Ombudspersons provide advocacy services to all residents living in licensed long term care facilities in Suffolk County.
Fees:
There is no charge for this service.
Program Hours:
Huntington - Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Riverhead – Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
