Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention

Program Purpose:
To provide education and support services for pregnant and parenting teens by encouraging family planning, staying in or returning to school, and healthy nutrition and lifestyles. The goal is to provide the incentive and means for teens to further their education so that they may become productive adults.
Program Description:
The program offers intensive case management for teens who are currently pregnant or parenting. The services include assisting with transportation to health clinics / doctors, job interviews, school enrollment as well as counseling for all of these issues. There is emphasis placed on delaying subsequent pregnancies. The case managers make home visits which enables them to gain greater insight into the living conditions and family dynamics of the APPS participants.
Persons Served:
Pregnant or parenting teens, almost exclusively girls, up to the age of 21.
