Bikes For Kids donates bikes for the Holidays

Staff and volunteers from Family Service League accompanied fifteen children and their families to receive a special early holiday surprise of new bicycles, helmets and accessories on Saturday, Dec. 16th at The Bicycle Planet in Syosset.  These generous gifts were donated by Bikes for Kids in America, The Bicycle Planet, and Massapequa Park Bicycle Club.  Enrico DeLuca and Craig Cory, co-founders of Bike for Kids in America, Howard Chung of The Bicycle Planet, and Ed Major from Massapequa Park Bike Club were all on hand to teach the children how to ride and care for their new shiny bikes. “Family Service League is delighted to work with Bikes for Kids in America, The Bicycle Planet, and the Massapequa Bike Club.  Their gifts have a profound impact by providing the children with the fun of owning a new bicycle and, more importantly, it reminds these struggling families that they are not alone.” said Karen Boorshtein, FSL President and CEO.  “These children are all participants in one of the many programs FSL provides to Long Island community residents.   This unique donation helps us fulfill our mission to help individuals, children, and families to mobilize their strengths and improve the quality of their lives at home, in the workplace and in the community.”

“This will be the 3rd consecutive year that we are partnering with Bicycle Planet and the Massapequa Bike Club to help bring more smiles to kid’s faces from Family Service League just in time for the holidays. I am very fortunate to get to know Howard and Ed over the years and greatly appreciate their time and generosity. What Family Service League does is truly amazing and we are happy to help in anyway we can.” – Enrico DeLuca, President & Founder of Bikes for Kids in America
