Family Service League receives $50,000 through the Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund

Grant supports the Brentwood Community School After-School Program
Family Service League is pleased to announce the grant award of $50,000 through Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund.  This grant will support FSL’s Brentwood Community School (BCS) After-School Program.  Thanks to this generous award students will continue to benefit from the academic enrichment, arts and cultural programming offered on-site. The goal of FSL’s BCS is to increase opportunities for students to succeed in school by adding resources known to make a difference: increased parental involvement in their children’s education, enhanced learning opportunities through educational enrichment, linguistically sensitive programs, consistent adult guidance and support, and access to health, dental and mental health services.  This grant was part of $940,000 that was distributed to 24 non-profit organizations through Newsday Charities.

“Family Service League is grateful to Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, for their on-going support of the Brentwood Community School and their commitment to the academic enrichment opportunities for students.  Over the years, Newsday Charities has been an invaluable partner, helping us fulfill our mission to help individuals, children, and families mobilize their strengths and improve the quality of their lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community.”   – Karen Boorshtein, FSL President and CEO
