Family Service League is proud to announce the election of Emmett F. Walker, Jr. to its Board of Directors. Mr. Walker is President & CEO of WIT Logistics LLC, a Walker SCM, LLC affiliate (Walker). He has over thirty years of experience managing logistics, transportation, warehousing, contract packaging, and freight forwarding activities for major fortune 500 companies. Walker has evolved from one small office in Mr. Walker’s home to a multi-divisional operation with eight offices worldwide. In 2012, Mr. Walker launched a new venture, Global Packaging Solutions LLC, which is a distributer of bags and packaging solutions and sources industrial supplies with a focus on government agencies.
Mr. Walker is a trustee for Northwell Health System, sits on the finance committee and committee of public and community health as well as on the Board of Directors at the local community hospital. Most recently, Mr. Walker initiated the creation of a standalone committee at Southside Community Hospital on Long Island called the Community Outreach and Health Education Council (COHEC). The COHEC focuses on closing the gaps between the wealthy and the economically vulnerable communities by driving change via education, lifestyle, and healthcare initiatives. “As a well-respected member of the corporate and non-profit communities, he brings the combination of business expertise and dedication as an advocate for developing additional social service programs. Mr. Walker sits on the GM Supplier Diversity Council, is past Chairman of New York/New Jersey Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC), and in 2013 was honored with the chairperson of the year award. In 2016, Mr. Walker was named Vetrepreneur of the year by the National Veteran-Owned Business Associate (NaVoBA). The Walker Family resides in Bay Shore, New York.
