Outreach & Engagement Team OET

The Outreach & Engagement Team (OET) supports individuals and their loved ones who are struggling with alcohol/ substance use or misuse through a comprehensive, community-based approach. OET meets individuals where they are—whether at home or in the community—with the primary goal of reducing the harmful effects of substance use, including overdose.

A core part of OET’s work involves providing harm reduction education, overdose prevention resources, and supplies. Harm reduction is central to our approach, offering practical strategies and support that minimize the negative consequences of substance use while promoting safety, dignity, and empowerment.

OET’s integrated clinical team—composed of peers, case managers, CASACs, and social workers—works together to enhance access and linkage to care by coordinating with other recovery providers across Suffolk County to deliver individualized, comprehensive care. At the heart of the program are peer recovery advocates, who draw from their lived experiences to inspire, connect with, and guide others along their recovery journey.
