FCC awards Family Service League a Telehealth Grant

Huntington, NY (July 15, 2020) – Family Service League (FSL), a premier Long Island based non-profit human service organization, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a reimbursement-based grant of up to $239,346 through the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) COVID-19 Telehealth Program.  This FCC grant was created to provide eligible health care providers with enhanced telecommunications services, information services, and connected devices that are needed to provide telehealth services in response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and in coordination with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

This grant will fund laptops, mobile hotspots, videoconferencing equipment, and network upgrades to better connect needed services to those affected by COVID-19.  Existing clients, new patients, essential workers, staff, and the community at large will all benefit from this expansion of technology.  “We have long recognized the importance of providing clients with the continuity of vital support throughout difficult times and this has always been forefront in our strategic planning.  Throughout this pandemic, FSL has provided access to mental health counseling, behavioral health counseling, and crisis care services via telehealth to thousands of people across Suffolk County. Children and adults depend on FSL’s broad spectrum of programs. We are their safety-net”, said Karen Boorshtein, FSL President & CEO. “We are appreciative of the FCC’s commitment to helping healthcare providers offer care and look forward to expanding FSL’s robust platform of telehealth services during this critical time.”
