Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

This program improves the quality of life for residents living in licensed long-term care facilities including skilled nursing homes, assisted living, adult homes and family type homes for adults in Suffolk County. FSL volunteers (“ombudsmen”) certified by the New York State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program visit residents weekly to resolve any issues they are having and to assure their rights are protected and they receive the necessary care and services to maintain their quality of life. Ombudsmen also serve as advocates fighting to reform long-term care policies and other issues impacting residents of long-term care facilities.
